Montra Pro

Create any show you can imagine.

In 1933 a story man at the Disney studio named Webb Smith stopped describing scenes out loud. He drew each moment on its own sheet of paper and pinned the sheets to a board in order, so anyone walking past could see the whole scene before a single frame of it was animated. When a moment was wrong, he moved the sheet.

That is the storyboard, and it has not changed much since. A scene in a paragraph can be argued about all afternoon. A scene on a board can only be moved until it is right.

Montra Pro is the next evolution of that idea: a studio designed so that anyone can create any show they can imagine, with a cast that stays itself from the first shot to the last. It is not a slot machine for video; every frame follows a decision you made.

A few ways Montra Pro shines:

  • Draft. One idea becomes a scene of shots, each with its line, its camera and its cut, and the frames are drawn one after another so the scene holds together.
  • Storyboard. Every shot is a card on a stage you can reorder, retake and trim, with a timeline under it that plays the whole board.
  • Render. A scene is one video: the frames, the voices and the cuts go to the model together, and the clip lands back on the timeline.

It is early, and it is being built with the people who make shows.
